Aspergillus is a genus of mycelial fungi, some members of which can either establish an opportunistic infection or induce an allergic reaction in humans. There are lots of different types of Aspergillus, the most common ones are Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus, A. terreus, A. nidulans, and Aspergillus niger. Level of Aspergillus-IgG is used in the diagnosis of the different forms of Aspergillosis, which are life-threatening diseases mostly affecting immunosuppressed patients. HIGH IgG levels are therefore associated with Aspergillosis. See also Aspergillus fumigatus Antibodies, Serum.
