Cadmium is an extremely toxic metal commonly found in industrial workplaces, particularly where any ore is being processed or smelted, and it is used in welding, paint, varnish making and fertilizers. Cadmium can cause adverse reactions in people exposed in the course of their work, including respiratory, gastrointestinal and renal problems, and it is considered to be carcinogenic. HIGH levels of Cadmium (Cd) cause tubular dysfunction, aminoaciduria, renal glucosuria, metal fume fever, pneumonitis, and pulmonary edema.
