المجموعة المرجعية

Weil-Felix test is a type of agglutination test in which patients serum is tested for agglutinins to O antigen of certain non-motile Proteus and rickettsial strains. This test works because rickettsiae possess antigens, also located in Proteus cells and therefore, both organisms stimulate the immune system to produce the same antibodies. Hence, this test is used to identify the presence of rickettsiae but without specifying a particular species.
