Tissue Polypeptide Antigen (TPA), Serum

7 Day(s)

Reference Range

Tissue Polypeptide Antigen (TPA) is a serological tumor marker composed of a molecular complex of cytokeratins 8, 18, and 19. It is used in the diagnosis and staging of cancer. TPA is a general tumor marker without any specificity for any particular organ. Levels of TPA in serum are mostly related with proliferation capacity rather than with tumor mass and cell necrosis. This test is useful for monitoring treatment and detecting recrudescence, especially in bladder cancer, as well as lung cancer. Therefore, TPA is INCREASED in malignant as well as in some benign diseases.
