1 Day(s)

Reference Range

Alpha-Fetoprotein is measured in pregnant women using maternal blood or amniotic fluid, as a screening test for a subset of developmental abnormalities. Abnormally ELEVATED Alpha-Fetoprotein in amniotic fluid can indicate open neural tube defect, omphalocoele, open abdominal wall defect, or congenital nephrosis. DECREASED levels are associated with Down syndrome.
