Mycobacterium tuberculosis, DNA, PCR

4Day(s)

Reference Range

Mycobacterium tuberculosis, along with M. bovis, M. africanum, and M. microti all cause the disease known as tuberculosis (TB) and are members of the tuberculosis species complex. Each member of the TB complex is pathogenic; M. tuberculosis being the major pathogen for humans, whereas M. bovis is usually pathogenic for animals, but can cause disease in humans. This test offers several advantages over traditional methods of isolation and identification such as Zeil-Nelsen stain and culture. It is rapid, sensitive, and provides accurate species differentiation. See Quantiferon-TB Gold In Tube
