M. Tuberculosis infection is likely. However, a positive Quantiferon TB Gold result does not necessarily indicate the presence of active tuberculosis disease. Other diagnostic procedures, such as TB by PCR, X ray examination of the chest and microbiological examination of sputum should be used when TB disease is suspected.

Special Requirements

Sample collection and handling: 1- samples have to be drawn by vaccutainer to the line 2- Order of the blood draw: Nill tube first then TB1 then TB2 and finally Mitogen tube 3- Tubes have to be mixed thouroughly (by inversion 10 times) immediately after blood draw, and incubated straight away at 37 C 4- After incubation is complete, samples should be centrifuged at 2000 - 3000 rpm for 15 min 5- Transfer the supernatenet to another test tubes with a correct labeling 6- Ship samples along with ice packs to maintain the temprature.
