Albumin / Globulin Ratio, Serum

1 Day(s)

Reference Range

The albumin/globulin ratio (A/G) is the calculation of serum albumin compared to serum globulin level to determine whether there is an overproduction or underproduction of albumin, or gamma-globulin. A LOW A/G ratio may be due to overproduction of gamma-globulin (monoclonal/polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia, multiple myeloma or autoimmune diseases), or due to low albumin (cirrhosis, or nephritic syndrome). A HIGH A/G ratio may be due to hypogammaglobulinemia. See Total Protein, Albumin, and Globulin, Serum.
