Reference Range

Hemoglobin is the iron-containing oxygen-transport metalloprotein in the red blood cells. This test is used to measure the severity of anemia or polycythemia, monitor the response to treatment of anemia or polycythemia, and help make decisions about blood transfusions if the anemia is severe.

Special Requirements

HPLC , Alkaline and acid electrophoresis are performed. Blood transfusions may give false or inconsistent results.
