Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1c), EDTA blood

1 Day(s)

Reference Range

Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels are used as a robust indicator in the control of blood glucose in diabetic patients. Hemoglobin A1c is formed by the conjugation of a hexose sugar to the beta-chain of hemoglobin A. This species builds up in red blood cells throughout their lifetime and its levels therefore represent a record of blood glucose levels over the 8 weeks or so preceding the drawing of the blood.
