Anti Acetylcholine Receptor (AChR) Antibodies, Quantitative, Serum

3Day(s)

Reference Range

Acetylcholine receptor antibodies are implicated in the loss of functional receptors in the post-synaptic membrane that underlies the defect in neuromuscular transmission in Myasthenia gravis. Myasthenia gravis is an acquired disorder of neuromuscular transmission characterized by muscle weakness and fatigability. Serial measurements of AChR antibodies can be useful in monitoring disease progression as well as the effects of treatment. A DECREASE in antibody titer means favorable response to treatment.
