Serological analysis of CMV is widely used. Primary infection results in seroconversion with the appearance and disappearance of IgM antibodies. IgM antibodies are the first to be produced by the body in response to a CMV infection. They are present in most individuals within a week or two after initial exposure. Specimen Preparation Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate from cells ASAP
