As part of its continuous efforts to serve the community at large and to elevate levels of health awareness amongst the masses, Biolab — the sole Biomnis dealer in the Kingdom — recently announced its sponsorship for the Colon Cancer Awareness Campaign initiated by the local committee of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA).
Scheduled to be held over a period of three days in March, the campaign is to target citizens in the cities of Amman, Irbid, and Aqaba. More specifically, awareness sessions will be held on the 15th, 29th, and 30th of March respectively. On these days, the campaign will commence operations at 2:00 pm and will extend till 8:00 pm, and it will target the visitors of Mecca Mall in Amman, the Great Arab Revolt Square in Aqaba, and the Civil Service Consumer Corporation (CSCC) in Irbid.
Its sessions will serve to shed light on the symptoms of colon cancer, and the importance of early diagnosis. Special attention will even be paid to the male segment of the population as they are more at risk for being infected with the disease.
CEO of Biolab, Dr. Amid Abdelnoor, pointed out that the month of March is known to be colon cancer month worldwide, and that Biolab has decided to sponsor this campaign in commemoration of this occasion. Colon cancer is the second most widespread form of cancerous diseases in Jordan and the region, while being the third most widespread around the globe.
Dr. Amid Abdelnour further added that the campaign falls directly in line with Biolab’s long term CSR strategy, as Biolab views itself as more than just a provider of healthcare services but rather as an ambassador for raising public health awareness levels, and promoting healthier lifestyles across all sectors of the community.
It is worth mentioning that the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-political federation operated by medical student-associations around the globe.
It is also recognized as a non-governmental organization (NGO) within the United Nations. In the year 2007, the Jordanian local committee joined this global entity and ever since that date, IFMSA - Jordan’s members have committed themselves to the service of the local community through launching public health and medical awareness campaigns.
Local committees of the IFMSA are currently well established at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), the University of Jordan, and the Hashemite University.
